Raanan the Silencer of the Great and Now... Fallen House of Saulian. 

(Mouthful I know!  hehehe)

Raanan’s was born to a mother from a very strict Altmer family.  They were obsessed with maintaining their pure bloodline.  Not wanting to someday be trapped in an arranged and loveless marriage she ran off instead.  With the help of one of her family’s servants, a kind and very charming Bosmer named Nedilos.  The two fell and love, she became pregnant but eventually she was caught, brought back home and surprisingly allowed to raise Raanan.  At least for a little while as his maternal grandfather kept him about as a curiosity and amusement until he was nine.  

Growing up his mother was about the only one who really loved him.  She also educated him on etiquette, how to cast spells, write and read.  One of his uncles also helped raise him and privately was kind to him as well.  Still all of their efforts in the hopes that eventually Raanan would be accepted into the family were in vain.  He was not and by the other members of the family was always referred to as "Mirinn's pet."  Raanan was also bullied by them mercilessly whenever his Mother and Uncle were not around.  

Upon reaching the age of nine his grandfather ordered his daughter to put him down.  The callous reason being, "He eats too much and is getting bigger than I expected.  I'm no longer amused with your antics of attempted to training and domestic him.  That and we can't have him breeding, I won't allow it."  

(I jokingly think of Raanan being built like a liger due to his mixed blood.  He’s big even for an Altmer.)

Mirinn instead paid a Khajiit caravan to smuggle her son away to live with his father.  She also sent word to Nedilos of the situation.  The journey to his father was not easy as one for Raanan.  One of the Khajiit spied Raanan's enchanted necklace, a parting gift from his mother and tried to take it.  Not willing to let it be stolen, Raanan fled from the caravan into the forests of Valenwood.  Lost and alone he tried to continue on and find his father's tribe.  Raised in civilization and luxury he knew little to nothing of how to survive in a forest.  As he made his way he faced one beast after another and he ended up suffering from various serious injuries.   It's why he has deep scratches across the left side of his face.  This also resulted in him going blind in his left eye.  True he knew how to heal but needed to spend a majority of his magicka on defending himself with just sparks and addressing more life threatening injuries.

Luckily the rest of the members of the caravan were honorable.  Realizing right away the mer child and one of their newest members was missing they acted quickly to alert Nedilos of what they suspected happened.  A search was started and Raanan was found starving, scarred, scared but alive after a few weeks.

Growing up with his father there was a great deal of culture shock but Raanan quickly grew to love his father and new home.  When he came of age he demanded they go to free his Mother.  It was then Nedlios confessed to him the truth that she had disappeared with rumors her family had killed her for disobeying in sending Raanan away rather than putting him down. 

In a fit of rage over the course of a two bloody years Raanan returned to the city of his birth and proceeded to murder ever member of the Great House of Saulian.  So obsessed with their line and when to breed at the time there were thankfully no children younger than him. 

Still vindictively Raanan started with his grown cousins first, aunts and uncles next and saved his grandfather for last.  Reason being Raanan wanted him to watch his house slowly fall down around him.  To strip him of everyone he deemed was of perfection and therefor value.  Raanan did not even leave bodies behind for funerals to be held.  They simply disappeared and let’s just say his Father’s tribe back in Valenwood for those two years ate very-very-very well. 

Raanan only let one of his relatives on his mother’s side of the family live.  His favorite uncle had been kind after all.  But Raanan castrated him in punishment for not protecting Mirinn.  The second reason being Raanan wanted to be the only “unfit to breed pet” remaining to continue the Saulian line.   

With everyone who ever tormented him was now dead, Raanan started to wander.  He eagerly bedded anyone whenever opportunity was available.  All in the efforts to continue the Saulian line and in a way that would make his dead relatives, his grandfather especially shudder in pure horror.  Besides that he was seeking a new purpose to his life.  

But so much death and vengeance did not go unnoticed by Sithis.  With the Night Mother secured in Dawnstar, the Dark Brotherhood needing more hands for the harvesting of souls the Listener was told to collect Raanan and offer him to join the fold.  Raanan with a smile happily accepted.
